Capital To Coast with New Balance
We teamed up with New Balance to run the Capital to Coast 100km Stage Race. Our mission: To do more with ALC-LESS!
Before the race we conducted a giveaway to give our followers a chance to win an entry into the Capital To Coast 100km. We couldn’t have been more stoked with the winners, ‘She Who Runs’, who brought the vibes and competition with them. Additionally, New Balance decked out the Capital Brewing team, ‘the CROCs’ (Capital Recreation & Outdoors Club) and ‘She Who Runs’ In the freshest kit, including the all new, New Balance FuelCell Super Comp Trail Shoes.
*A quick shoe review for anyone who was wondering. The Super Comp Trail features a Carbon Plate, Fuel Cell Foam and Vibram Megagrip Outersole. What does this mean? It is furiously fast, responsive and grippy. The best part is how comfortable it is for a trail racing shoe. It is blindingly obvious from the minute you put them on that they want you to go fast but the plush underfoot feel and maximum grip make it an easy choice for an everyday run too!
We spent the weekend exploring epic trails from Canberra to Durras. 🏃♀️🏃♂️ We crossed paths with remarkable runners, volunteers, and supporters who made the adventure even more extraordinary. The atmosphere was electric, and we were in awe of the vibrant Canberra trail community’s endless inspiration.
Day 1
The first day kicked off with the Prologue Race at Stromlo. Our giveaway winners ‘She Who Runs’ crushed the initial stage, placing third in their category and creating a healthy margin over their competition. Meanwhile, The Capital CROCS could be found smashing a pre race ALC-LESS. We recommend saving your ALC-LESS for after the race but it evidently didn’t impact performance based on the epic sprint finish from our first runner.
Day 2
The second day found us travelling through Molonglo Gorge, Glenburn Heritage, Tallaganda and finishing up at Braidwood Showground. There was a solid mixture of fire trails, single track, gnarly hills and a fast 6 lap course fit for a time trial. Highlights included the 7km hill with 330m of elevation gain and dinner at Braidwood’s famous Smokey Horse who fuelled us with Himalayan Curries and Capital Brews before the final day of racing.
Day 3
The final day of racing had us exploring Mongarlowe River, Old Nelligen, Deep Creek Dam and finishing at Durras. Throughout the day we admired the solo runners who worked their way up to 100km total of running for the weekend, cheered on the new friends we made and shared hot cups of tea over camping stoves. The Capital to Coast event is truely unique in the sense of community it fosters. You get to spend an entire weekend with some truely incredible people and by the end it feels like you have known them all along. We celebrated at the finish line, slinging tins of #ALCLESS. A much-appreciated refreshment after 100km of hills, thrills and everything in between.
Major kudos to @newbalance for kitting us out in their top-tier trail gear – that’s got to be where the free speed came from, propelling The CROCs to 2nd place in the mixed-team’s showdown and She Who Runs to 3rd place in the females teams face-off. 🥈 Huge thanks to @capital2coast100 for curating such a wildly fun event that brought us all together.
Cheers to a weekend of camaraderie, perseverance, and a hell of a run!!! Pumped for next year.
