Phoenix rising: a festival of bands & brews for Cobargo | 28 march 2020
We’re raising funds for our good mates in Cobargo the only way we know how – by throwing a massive party with stellar live music, good food and great brews. We’re covering ALL the costs of the party and asking you to donate what would have been the ticket price (or more if you wish) at the door to directly help the people of Cobargo. Take in some of the hottest in surf, fuzz and indie-rock. Feast on gourmet food. Wash it all down with a bunch of specialty brews. And help a community get back on their feet!
Capital has a special connection to the south coast community of Cobargo. We’ve supported the Cobargo Folk Festival for the past few years, and were due to do so again this month for their now-cancelled 25th anniversary. On New Year’s Eve, one of the fiercest fires of this unprecedented season tore through the town and surrounding region. Four people including father and son Robert and Patrick Salway died. At least 108 homes were lost, and more than 400 properties damaged. Thousands of animals were killed and the historic main street was levelled. A number of Capital staff have family members who have lost homes and property. All funds raised from this event will go directly to the Cobargo Community Bushfire Recovery Fund.
Stay tuned for the full line-up of bands, food trucks, and our special release beer!
