Hounslow Classic 2024

The Capital Frothers are back! And this time we took on the Hounslow Classic, a brutal and beautiful 43km Marathon and 17 km Trail Race.

As per usual our mission is to bring the good vibes to the Trails during the event and show first hand you can ‘Do more with ALC-LESS’.

Our team was made up of 5 runners. Laurence and Jonny represented Capital alongside our Good Natured Crew Ambassador Brain Lichi and Capital friends Fabian and Richard. The team was also crewed by the legendary Ultra-Marathon Runner and Ambassador Alex Bate.

The marathon team kicked things off at 6:30am with a beautiful Sunrise start at the top of the Grose Valley. As the sun rose for the day we cruised along the cliff tops witnessing stunning views of Evans Lookout. From there we headed down some beautiful single track trail, skipping and hopping across small creeks and under waterfalls. Vibes were high and the cooling climate of the canyon was very much welcomed.

We refuelled at the 17km checkpoint and embarked on our journey towards Perrys Lookdown where we plunged deep into the Grose Wilderness descending on what felt like a never ending staircase mixed with trails that weaved through a Giant Blue Gum Forest.

As a team we enjoyed a dip in the Grose River washing off the sweat and resetting the mind and legs for the climb up to the chiseled Lockleys Pylon. The views kept us going as we ran in awe, continuously checking the beautiful landscape on the horizon.

From there it felt like we were running in the sky as we traversed to the Pinnacles and enjoyed a delicious three course meal of Cuppa Noodles. Boiled Potatoes, Fresh Fruit with the additional Cheeky Lolly or Two.

Leaving the 30km check point fully refreshed we began the journey back along the trail and descended down the cliffs of Lockleys Pylon. Every step was carefully placed as we slowly made our way down the never ending rock face back to the Grose River for another dip in the river. This was the ideal reset before beginning the climb back up the staircase towards Perry’s Lookout.

The power of positivity definitely came into play here focusing our mind on the incredible landscape surrounding us, blocking out the burning legs.

Finally once reaching the top of Perry’s Lookout and completing a total of 2500m of elevation we cruised towards the finish line feeling incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of such an amazing event and community. Once crossing the finish line we enjoyed an ice cold Alc-Less Non Alc Pacific Ale amongst our fellow runners, also crushing their well earned Capital beer.
