EPISODE 1: THE BREWING PROCESS
Join Lead Brewer Sherri in Episode 1 as she delves into the brewing process. Sherri brings us on a journey where we explore the steps involved in making a fresh and frothy brew. From milling, to mashing, boiling, whirl pooling and fermenting come along and learn how your favourite Capital beers are made.
EPISODE 2: HOPS
Episode 2 brings us to the topic of Hops! Sherri explains that Hops are a flower and that we look for the essential oils and alpha acids to control bitterness, flavour and aroma. Where the hops are introduced in the brewing process influence the characteristics of the beer. Watch along to find out more!
EPISODE 3: YEAST
In episode 3, Julia discusses the unsung hero of beer-making – yeast! Yeast takes wort (discussed in previous episodes) and turns it into beer, processing the sugars into cO2 and alcohol. There are many types of yeast but two distinct families: ale and lager. Watch Julia in episode 3 of Beer Basics to learn more!
EPISODE 4: QuALITY ASSURANCE
Julia walks us through the process of quality assurance in episode 4. She explains how the beer is tested continually throughout the fermentation process to ensure it is progressing how it should be. The oxygen levels in the packaging and haziness/ clearness are checked to ensure you get the best product! In addition, we make sure there are no microbes or bacteria. This means you get the freshest and most consistent product possible!
EPISODE 5: CANNING AND PACKAGING
Meet Connor, he’s in charge of giving our beers their own personal aluminium trailer, getting them packed and ready to be sent to you thirsty folk. He takes us through the intricate process of transferring our brews into their cans. This involves checking the seams, preventing any oxygen from entering the cans and testing the final product to ensure you are delivered the freshest froths.
EPISODE 6: MALTS
Meet Shawn, one of our legendary brewers as he discusses the unsung hero of beer… Malt. He takes us through the types of Malt, their flavour profiles and the beers they’re used in. So, take a moment to relax, crack a beer, and let your curiosity for beer knowledge run wild.
